FileOpener is an application designed to extract zipped or compressed files. It supports most of archive formats, including .rar, .zip, .jar, .arc, .hpx, .lzh, and .cab.
The program's interface is neither attractive nor unpleasant.

Yet, it is as easy to use as anyone could imagine. All it takes is drop the file into the spotted area or simply browse for the archive you intend to decompress. Some basic information of the source file are displayed into a list pane, including the file's name, size, ratio, and the date when it was last modified. Then, you just set the saving path and enable the unzipping process. At the end, you receive a notification whether the files were successfully extracted or an error may have occurred.

The tool works pretty fast. However, it would be more convenient, if you could decompress multiple files at once. I intended to add more than one archive to the working area, but without any success; each time, a single file remained selected. Another drawback would be that the program doesn't provide an option for opening the output file automatically. You need to search for it manually.

In short, this is a light and easy-to-use application for decompressing various archive types. It is created for custom users who happen to deal occasionally with archives and who don't want to spend money for advanced options.

  • Works fast
  • It is free

  • No option for batch process
